Hernando Cortes' famous feet
Hernando Cortes was part of a major expedition in Cuba. During the expedition he heard of a great city with vast riches. He wanted these these riches and sneaked away with 600 soldiers,200 slaves and 16 horses. He didn't want to go back to where he came for permission so he took over a nearby tribe and appointed himself the leader. He then realized he needed some reinforcements so he took over another tribe and made them his allies.
When he reached the Aztecs they thought he was there most powerful god. Playing along he captured Montezuma, the Aztec King. The Aztecs were angry and drove him and his troops out of there city. He returned with some enemies of the Aztec and eventually defeated them once and for all.
